I like to think of myself as a very clean and tidy person. I like for all of my things to be put in the proper place at the end of the day. This is why I love the idea of tepee inspection! One of the greatest benefits of receiving a “perfect” on inspection every day at camp (other than the fact that your tepee is clean and you don’t lose stuff as easily) is that your entire cabin gets to go out for a meal off camp. One of the most popular places that our campers typically like to go is Queen B’s.
Queen B’s is a tea room in Ingram, Texas that offers an authentic English high tea experience. I
recently went to Queen B’s for the first time to get lunch with Monique and Meredith and Catherine Ragsdale because we had heard that it was closing down at the end of this month.
My lunch started off with a fresh pot of Earl Gray tea. I felt like I was in the United Kingdom
again (where I first fell in love with hot tea). They even brought little Catherine’s lemonade out in a tea pot for her. While we were all enjoying each other’s company and talking about all the excitement with camp just around the corner, more food than you can imagine was brought to our table. Catherine got the princess plate that came with crown and heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as cookies, brownies, and pastries. Meredith, Monique, and I all got the daily special. It came with a roast beef sandwich, soup, salad, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, fresh fruit, and a wide assortment of cookies, cakes, brownies, and pastries.
Our meal was so wonderful and we had so much food that there were plenty of leftovers to snack on over the next couple of days. The experience at Queen B’s was also amazing. It was a perfect lunch for all of us. I am really going to miss Queen B’s!
