At The Heart, we have more of a dress code than a uniform. We do this because we want to remove—or at least reduce—any perceived socioeconomic competition associated with “cool” or “stylish” or “designer” clothing, and eliminate the opportunity for inappropriate slogans on T-shirts and shorts. In addition, we find that having everyone conform to “the code” increases our security by making people more recognizable as “ours”—even across camp.
Here are the details on what to wear at camp:
During tribal ceremonies (Tribe Ground, Tribe Hills, Naming O’ the Braves), campers must wear the Tribe Uniform: Tribe T-shirt and Tribe shorts, white tennis shoes and socks. Campers should have a minimum of four sets of Tribe Uniform for a four-week term, and two or three sets for a Split Term.
At all other times during the session, campers may wear any shorts that are red, white, blue, or green, with any shirt that is sold in our Trading Post: either the Heart logo T, a Tribe T, or any other Trading Post shirt. We do sell shorts that are red, white, blue or green.
On Sunday: campers wear “whites”: white shorts, white T-shirt or blouse (does not have to be purchased from Trading Post), white tennis shoes and white socks.
Here are the details on our Trading Post:
Shorts, shirts, caps, laundry bags and other items may be purchased through our online Trading Post. On our home page (www.HOHcamp.com), click the link on the upper-right hand side of the menu bar that says Trading Post, and you will be directed there.
Shipping: We ship UPS to U.S. addresses, and we generally never ship to foreign addresses (too costly). We have coded in the weight of each item, and as you shop, an accurate shipping cost is automatically calculated. If you prefer to pick up your purchases at camp, just indicate that, and your shipping total will be –0—.
Notes for New Campers: Many items, including your Tribe Uniform, come in tribe colors—and you won’t know which tribe you’ll belong to until after Opening Ceremony on the first night of the term. So, in each category of clothing, items that are “tribe specific” can be ordered by a new camper—just look for the black and white image of the T-shirt or 
shorts you want in “new camper” color, and select that. Just let us know your size and the number of each item you would like to order and once we know your tribe, your order will be filled in either Pawnee blue or Shawnee green, and delivered to your tepee on Day #2 of your stay.
BTW, “New Camper” clothing is keyed in as weighing nothing, so the shipping on your Trading Post order will not be affected by items being held at camp.
