Camp is my happy place!

Heart O' the Hills Summer Camp 16-year old campers 2“From my very first day of camp where I picked my tribal bead to present day, Heart O’ the Hills has always held a special place in my heart. I have been attending this camp for nine years. Throughout my time, I have gained more skills and intuition than I do at home in the off-season. I constantly practice table manners, social skills and pushing myself beyond my limits. There is no better place to do that in such a positive, encouraging environment than Heart O’ the Hills.”

Editor’s Note: We could tell you how amazing Heart O’ the Hills Summer Camp for Girls is, but that would be no fun. So we asked our Heart Campers to share their experience about camp.  Periodically we will post a camper’s “Heart Story”. We hope you enjoy reading how camp makes a difference in girls’ lives every day.

Today’s story is from eight-year camper Peyton W. Here’s more:

“The main reason I continuously return to this camp every year is because here I can be myself in front of hundreds of other girls who have the same passion for The Heart as I do. Also, The Heart is my second home. The friendships with the girls I meet here are some of the most unique, open-minded and pure friendships I will ever make.

I still find myself meeting new people while maintaining old friendships I made during my first year as a camper when I was seven years old. The bonds one may obtain at The Heart are like none other. Although everyone comes from different families, all of our roots trace back to Heart O’ the Hills.

“Inside The Heart, each and every girl that attends this camp shares a unique piece of themselves with everyone they encounter.

They travel to spend one month just to see old faces, compete between tribes and share love for one another as part of The Heart Tribe.

“No matter who you are, where you’re from or whether they are a camper or counselor, the friends you make at Heart O’ the Hills are your sisters for life.

“Our millions of continuous memories will live on forever and together like the ongoing ripples of the Guadalupe River.” -Peyton W.
