The Heart is Thankful for her Camp Families

Just a stroll around The Heart fills the, well, heart with gratitude. How blessed are we to be here? Camp’s many trees put on quite the show with their changing leaves, accentuating the depth of the rolling hills. Towering as tall as ever, the cypress are magnificent in the off season. Their scent becomes most profound right before their red leaves flutter to the ground. In the off season, The Heart moves at a more gentle pace, and we can take in the bounty of the land. Yet, when the campers are gone it’s just not the same. There is no laughter echoing down the river and off the hills. It is our campers that make the magic of camp and we are so thankful for them.

Not a day goes by, in or out of the office, when campers aren’t on our minds. As former counselors, we often reminisce about the joys of cabin life. Our passel of daughters may only stay during the summer, but they forever reside in our hearts. Childhood is short, and we are thankful that families share precious moments of their campers’ childhood with us.

It is our camp families that make camp possible. Our camp families spread the good word of camp to other families, they donate outgrown uniforms to the younger generation, and they send us kind words of encouragement throughout the year. Thank you, camp families, for believing in our mission and helping make our dreams come true. Without you all The Heart would not beat.
