Inspiration abounds! and Spring Reading

What a wealth of inspiration we have acquired! Monique, Katie and I have spent several weeks (each) at conferences and training events over the last three months.

Our training has taken us to Michigan, Boulder Colorado, Nashville and Marble Falls Texas! They have been hosted by CampMinder, The Summer Camp Society, CODA (Camp Owners and Directors Association), EPIC (Emerging Professionals in Camping), ACA (American Camp Association), and CAMP (Camping Association for Mutual Progress).

We have heard from speakers who were cutting edge and fairly new on the scene, educators, authors and experts in fields not directly associated with youth camping, other camp directors, and those considered giants in the industry.

One of the speakers I drew inspiration from was Audrey Monke, who writes a blog on parenting that I wanted to bring to the attention of our camper families. Audrey’s blog is called Sunshine Parenting. One recent post is “Three Strategies for Raising Kids Who Become Thriving Adults”.

She also provides weekly parenting tips through an email subscription, and has written a book that’s scheduled to come out in early May.

If you’re looking for some easy but impactful reading for spring break, check out the links!

And no, Audrey isn’t paying me to plug her! In fact, she probably doesn’t remember me at all.

Funny how people who say things can be recalled so much more vividly than the people receiving the information!

Speaking of inspiration, the ACA website has a rich section dedicated especially to campers and their families! You should check it out!

Have a great spring break! We are hoping to see many campers and alumnae soon! Jane—
